The 2022 216 Miles to Go Cabernet Sauvignon blends the opulent, rich, and dark fruit characters of Phinny Hill Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA, with the intense, dynamic, and expansive qualities of Quintessence vineyard in the Red Mountain AVA. The 2022 vintage was cooler than 2021. The cooler weather allowed the grapes to develop slowly, leading to fantastic balance between sugar, acid, and flavor development. Late summer heat, and one of the warmest Octobers on record, helped produce wines with exceptional balance, depth, and purity.

The journey of 216 Miles to Go begins in 1999 when Mark McNeilly, fresh from working in Seattle restaurants and as a wine seller, started making friends in the growing wine community of Woodinville, Washington - an idyllic farming town 20 miles east of Seattle. A vineyard owner on Red Mountain took a chance in offering an aspiring winemaker some of his most coveted Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and Mark hit the road in his 1987 Chevy Astrovan, traveling the 216 miles from Woodinville to the high desert vineyards in eastern Washington. Over two decades later, the voyage continues with the aptly named "216 Miles to Go" Cabernet. The label encapsulates the essence of this odyssey - the roots tracing back to those humble beginnings crisscrossing the state to eastern Washington vineyards, and the vision to elevate Washington wines on the national and international stage. 216 Miles to Go is a journey through Washington's vineyards, bottled. It pays homage to our roots while realizing bold dreams of introducing this exciting New World wine scene to a wider audience of enthusiasts everywhere.
