The 2022 Water Witch immediately captivates with its expressive bouquet, where dark cherry mingles with freshly ground espresso and sweet tobacco notes. The palate shows impressive depth with dark chocolate and rich cherry cordial flavors. Bright, lively acidity provides a beautiful counterpoint to the richness, working in harmony with well-structured tannins. A generous finish is dominated by lingering ripe boysenberry notes. While already showing beautifully, this wine will age gracefully for the next decade or more.

Winemaker Notes
In 2012 we partnered with Quintessence Vineyards to plant a 13.6-acre block on the south slope of Red
Mountain. We worked together with the Quintessence team to transform the site into a world-class vineyard, sparing no expense in the design and development. Through meticulous site, varietal, and clone selection, as well as targeted vine density and orientation, we have been able to create a singular wine unique to the Mark Ryan lineup and Red Mountain AVA. We focus on highlighting the fantastic character and quality that make this block unique. By utilizing cooler fermentation temperatures and slightly longer skin contact time we can coax the inherent depth and power from the fruit while maintaining more delicate and nuanced aromas and flavors. Once fermentation was complete, the wine was lightly pressed to barrel where it aged for 21 months in 100% new French oak.
