Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The 2020 vintage of Lonely Heart is a savory wine with a depth of flavor and aromatics. Reminiscent of the forest floor on a dry autumn day, baking spices and blackberries join a rich, spicy, and complex finish.

Vineyard Notes
The 2020 Lonely Heart is a single-vineyard cabernet sauvignon from our custom planted blocks at Quintessence on Red Mountain. Block 16 was planted in 2012 with clone 191. Grapes from this block produce wines with bold, fruit driven aromatics and expansive flavors. Block 53 was planted in 2017 with clone 337. The fruit from this block produces wines with an exceptional balance of rich aromatics and subtle layers of spice with broad, ripe flavors.
Winemaker Notes
When working with such extraordinary fruit we strive to elevate and support its unique qualities without obscuring the profile with heavy-handed winemaking techniques. Our goal is to allow the amazing qualities of the fruit to be freely expressed in the finished wine. Our strategy targets ideal extraction to coax maximum aroma and flavor out of the fruit without over-extracting the harsher components that can make a wine awkward and unbalanced. Specific oak cooperage is selected to enhance the innate beauty and power in the wine without overwhelming the aromas and flavors. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is lightly pressed to barrel where it is aged for 21 months in 92% new French oak.
