Tasting Notes
100% Cabernet Sauvignon. A brooding, plush expression of Cabernet Sauvignon,
the 2021 Lonely Heart shows aromatics of
boysenberry, sweet tobacco, and crushed rock. On
the palate, flavors of Luxardo cherries and dried
oregano emerge, with a lush texture and lengthy
finish. This is a multi-faceted Cabernet with depth
and complexity in both its aromas and flavors.
Despite a rich and opulent mouthfeel, the wine
maintains elegance with fresh acidity and refined
tannins.

Winemaker Notes
The 2021 Lonely Heart is a single-vineyard
cabernet sauvignon from our custom planted blocks
at Quintessence on Red Mountain. Block 16 was
planted in 2012 with clone 191. Grapes from this
block produce wines with bold, fruit driven
aromatics and expansive flavors. Block 32 was
planted in 2014 with clone 2. The fruit from this
block produces wines with an exceptional balance
of rich aromatics and expansive layers of pepper
and spice with broad, ripe flavors. When working
with such extraordinary fruit we strive to elevate
and support its unique qualities without obscuring
the profile with heavy-handed winemaking
techniques. Our goal is to allow the amazing
qualities of the fruit to be freely expressed in the
finished wine. Specific oak cooperage is selected to
enhance the innate beauty and power in the wine
without overwhelming the aromas and flavors.
Once fermentation was complete, the wine was
lightly pressed to barrel where aged for 21 months
in 87% new French oak.
